Founded in 1985, New Rochelle Opera has grown from intimate educational presentations into one of Westchester’s enduring performing-arts organizations.

New Rochelle Opera was incorporated as a nonprofit in 1985 by soprano Camille Coppola and Billie Tucker of the New Rochelle Public Library. Their collaboration began several years earlier, introducing opera to students through interactive lectures and live performances.
Early presentations developed into fully staged productions with orchestra, establishing a tradition of professional artistry, community spirit, and meaningful opportunities for emerging singers.
Today, that founding purpose continues under Artistic and General Director Jason C. Tramm, with artistically ambitious opera for Westchester audiences and a renewed emphasis on creativity and collaboration.
